The Resilience Project 2022: Producer & Co-Facilitator

Square

I was the producer for The Resilience Project’s Circle Programme and co-facilitator of their 2022 Resilience Residential.

With a belief that the future is intersectional, radical, co-designed and empowering, I was invited to produce the 2022 The Resilience Project Circle Programme and co-faciliate the week-long Resilience Residential developed by Katie Hodgetts, Founder and Director.

Across the 6 month programme and my 12 month contract, we trained, mentored and paid 12 climate changemakers 18 to 26-years-old in climate resilience before they then facilitated their own peer-led 8 week Resilience Circles across the country and internationally.

Admin and creative roles varied from developing the brand’s tone of voice handbook, creating new graphics pack, to co-designing the 2022 Resilience Residential for 12 participants and 4 staff. This included contracting photography and videography for a key day and photography by myself and Katie for the other days, to facilitating daily workshops and organisational support throughout the Residential. I also mentored them weekly across the 8 week programme, offering 1:1 and 2:1 support and insight into career development, facilitator skills advancement, hybrid tool adaptations for online sessions and more. Priorities towards the end involved a 360 review and evaluation of the 2022 programme, outline revisions for 2023 as well as assessing and setting new targets.

The Resilience Project is built on the ethos that ecoanxiety and burnout are understandable symptoms of the climate crisis and its compounded influences, e.g. capitalism. So, it takes a certain type of person to go on this kind of journey, as building resilience into your life takes a lot of unimaginable strength. You’re confronted with the deepest parts of your psyche and trained in reflecting into your soul, unpacking your traumas and aspirations, to find the power in vulnerability.

The work you’re doing is so, so important. I believe that the world would be a radically transformed place if everyone had access to this experience …You are like angels – bringers of lightness in such dark times. Or perhaps it would be better to say torch bearers – you’ve illuminated the phosphorescent joy and hope and wonder in all of us, in humans, and in nature!
